Pre-review

Documentum 6.5 Content Management Foundations

EMC Proven Professional Certification Exam E20-120 Study Guide

I was asked to do a review on Packt’s book on Documentun 6.5. Just doing some background on this book in my decistion on doing the review, I become under the impression that this book will bring a reader up and teach you everything you need to know to pass/“Ace”, as the author states, the E20-120 exam. Now, :) I have never use Documentum, thou I have brushed by the platform in the breath or people, I know almost nothing on the workings of this platform. I figure, and is why I excepted this review task, that I was perfect to see if a beginner will truly be “introduced to concepts in a logical manner” leading me to pass the E20-120 exam. Nothing like using a book to botstap your knowledge base.
Quickly reading over the chapters, it seems that what I’ll learn is to:

  • Learn the fundamental content management concepts for working with Documentum 6.5 and the Documentum platform architecture
  • Create and manage content with metadata
  • Secure repository access with users, groups, and permissions
  • Search and locate documents
  • Configure Webtop user interface with presets
  • Create and manage customizations with Documentum projects in Composer
  • Create portable and reusable customizations with aliases
  • Automate processes and business rules with workflows and lifecycles
  • Use virtual documents for collaboration and reuse

I have high hopes and I am excited to have this under my belt. Time to start reading and fallowing, but you can read a tester chapter your self. You can download the extracted chapter from the book (Chapter No. 3 Objects and Types)
Look forward to getting back on this.
